Reinventing nostalgic treats for modern tastebuds.

Brand Creation | Entrepreneur

The story of Little Freshie stems back quite a few years (I’ll be honest. It was almost 10.) But the years I spent as an entrepreneur were invaluable, so I keep this hobby-turned-business story in here.

In a nutshell: I started an all-natural snow cone company that grew quickly and was featured in more than a handful of national publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and the Food Network Magazine.

  • I started the business as a passion project while working full-time at an advertising agency. At night, I would make the syrups using fresh fruit and herbs I grew in my garden. Then on the weekends, I would serve the snow cones out of a renovated 1957 Shasta trailer in an idyllic neighborhood garden to a line of customers that snaked around the block.

My most popular flavors were blackberry lavender, lemon prickly pear, and watermelon basil.

As the business grew and started to capture national attention, I took a leap of faith, quit my day job, and expanded the concept to open a small storefront called Little Freshie. The common thread was ‘reinventing nostalgic treats’.

We continued to serve our signature snow cones and added a vintage soda fountain from the 1940s to make sodas and floats as well. It became a warm, friendly neighborhood hang out and I loved watching people meet up to enjoy something delicious together.

After having designed brands for other companies for years, it was exhilarating to consider and craft every aspect of the brand experience. It was a joyful 8-year run!
